Daily Storm Discussion

Today’s storm focus will be across the South and parts of the Pacific Northwest. Across the South, scattered thunderstorms will continue with locally heavy downpours, gusty winds, and brief flooding concerns.

A more unusual severe weather setup is expected across eastern Oregon into southern Washington this afternoon. Thunderstorms there may become strong to severe, producing damaging wind gusts, torrential rain, and hail. Some storms in this area could become fairly intense, which is uncommon for this part of the country.

Meanwhile, drier and cooler air continues settling into the eastern United States through the next several days. Looking farther ahead, temperatures are expected to trend warmer, with a hotter pattern likely building into the East by the middle part of June.
