SERIOUS FLOODING FOR THE PLAINS

Heavy Rain Continues Across the Plains and Midwest

As we've discussed in the heavy rain forecast, heavy rainfall will continue today and tomorrow across a large portion of the central United States.

The areas likely to be hit hardest will be Oklahoma and Texas, where thunderstorms will have an abundant supply of moisture to work with. The remnants of Hurricane Polo are also transporting additional tropical moisture northward, which will help fuel these thunderstorms and increase the potential for locally very heavy rainfall.

As the system continues moving northeastward, that moisture and heavy rain will spread into the Midwest, where additional heavy rainfall and flash flooding will be possible.

The combination of tropical moisture, thunderstorms, and already-wet ground will make this an important flooding situation across portions of the Plains and Midwest.

Once this system moves through tomorrow, we'll be ready to turn our attention to the next storm-map issue and see what the atmosphere has in store next.
