4070 Storm Map: Coastal Storm Strengthens and Moves Into New Jersey

Today
The coastal storm southeast of New Jersey remains a 40-70-3 type of storm, and today is expected to bring the worst conditions. The storm is nearing the coast, with strong winds and heavy rain affecting the eastern seaboard. Rain is spreading west into central Pennsylvania and parts of Virginia and Maryland. It will be a cold, windy day for many areas along the coast.
Coastal impacts so far have been limited, though conditions could worsen as the storm nears during high tide:
Wind gusts are already over 45 mph along the Jersey Shore and through Long Island. Gusts could reach 60 mph today in those areas.
Heavy rain is falling, but there has been no flooding so far.
Waves have stayed farther out along the beaches and have not reached over the bulkheads. Wave action could reach the bulkheads as the storm nears during high tides.
Sunday into Monday
The storm is expected to loop into New Jersey and then move back out by Monday. It should be weakening by Sunday, with today expected to be the stormiest part of the event.
