Verified snow totals for any US address, first three free
A lot of the snow questions we hear show up after the storm is over. A property manager pushes back on a plow invoice two weeks later, or a slip-and-fall claim lands in March about a morning in January. Somebody has to say how much snow fell at that lot and back it up.
For most contractors that means digging through data from an airport station that might be 20 miles from the site, or asking whoever was on the truck that night. Once money is on the line, neither holds up very well.
So we built freesnowreport.com. Enter a street address or a ZIP code anywhere in the continental US, then pick the days of the storm. A report covers up to three days, from any storm in the last ten years. Most reports land in your inbox in about 15 minutes as two PDFs. The Verified Report is one page with the storm total. The Full Report shows the official station record and the observers behind the number, with a map.
How we get the number
We start from what was measured on the ground near your address: official weather stations, plus trained volunteer observers who measure snow every morning. We weight them by how close they are to you and adjust for the elevation of the address, since a ridge and the valley below it can see very different totals. Every report runs through automated quality checks before it goes out. When something doesn't line up, one of our meteorologists reviews it first, and if the record can't support a solid number we tell you so.
We've compared our snow totals with other weather services in several studies, and ours came out on top.
Why it's free
The day you need a snow total is usually a day you didn't plan for. We want a contractor in a dispute, or an adjuster working a claim, to be able to get a good number fast. So every verified email gets three reports free, with no contract and no credit card. It's also the most direct way we know to show people what our snow data can do.
