Severe Weather Discussion

We’re tracking the potential for heavy thunderstorms today across the Mid-Atlantic, including the Washington and Baltimore areas, possibly extending into parts of New Jersey.

Storms in this region may produce:

  • Intense rainfall

  • Strong wind gusts

  • Frequent lightning

  • Localized flooding in heavier downpours

Farther south, additional heavy thunderstorms are expected from Louisiana and Mississippi back into Texas.

The most significant severe weather threat appears to be across western Texas, from:

  • Lubbock

  • Midland

  • The Big Bend region

Supercell thunderstorms in these areas could produce:

  • Large damaging hail

  • Tornadoes

  • Strong winds

Heavy rain will also be a major concern across eastern and southern Texas, where some locations may receive up to 4 inches of rainfall, increasing the risk for:
