TORNADO PATTERN THROUGH MONDAY
Updated by Henry Margusity
Weather Decision Solutions is closely monitoring a high-impact severe weather pattern** over the next several days, with multiple rounds of storms expected to bring significant impacts across the central and eastern United States.
The first phase of this event begins today across Oklahoma, where conditions are favorable for strong thunderstorm development. Some of these storms may become organized and capable of producing tornadoes, including a few that could be long-track, along with damaging winds and large hail.
By tomorrow, the focus shifts northward into central and eastern Kansas. The environment remains supportive of severe weather, and additional thunderstorms in this region may again produce tornadoes, as well as hail and wind damage.
As we head into Monday, the system progresses east into the Ohio Valley and the Tennessee Valley. This phase of the event may feature a broader area of thunderstorms, with the potential for numerous tornadoes, in addition to widespread damaging winds and hail. This could represent the most impactful portion of the outbreak given the larger population centers involved.
Beyond the severe weather threat, heavy rainfall across the Mississippi Valley will raise concerns for flooding, particularly in areas that receive repeated rounds of storms.
This setup is part of a broader, active pattern tied to a strengthening El Niño and a volatile alignment of atmospheric indices. These factors are contributing to a storm track that favors frequent and sometimes intense weather systems, keeping conditions unsettled across much of the country.
Overall, this is a serious and evolving situation, with multiple rounds of severe weather expected and the potential for both immediate storm damage and longer-term flooding concerns.
