Severe Weather Alert: Elevated Tornado Risk Early Next Week

The primary weather story over the next several days will be an evolving severe weather pattern across the central and eastern U.S.

This Weekend: Severe storms will target the Southern Plains, with damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes possible.

Monday: A more significant outbreak is expected to develop, shifting into the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. This system has the potential to produce tornadoes, along with widespread severe thunderstorms.

We are already alerting our customers to the risk of tornado activity Monday, spanning from Michigan south through Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

Now is the time to review safety plans and stay weather-aware as this system evolves.

Following Monday’s severe weather outbreak, the pattern does not settle down.

Midweek & Beyond: Additional storm systems will track across the central U.S., bringing more rounds of severe weather to the midsection of the country.

Heavy Rain Threat: A prolonged stretch of repeated rainfall is expected over the next couple of weeks, especially across the southern Mississippi Valley, increasing the risk for flooding concerns.

Looking North & East: On the colder side of these systems, parts of the Northeast could even see late-season snow, depending on how the pattern evolves.

This is shaping up to be a highly active and impactful weather pattern, with both severe weather and hydrology concerns front and center.

Stay alert—this is not a one-and-done event.
