SNOW WINDING DOWN
Updated by Henry Margusity
Storm Snowfall Map 1Weather Discussion
Heavy snow continues across Colorado today, where some areas have already picked up close to 20 inches of snow since yesterday, especially in the foothills and higher elevations. The snow is gradually shifting southward into northern New Mexico, although additional accumulations today should generally remain in the 1 to 3 inch range, with locally higher totals in the mountains. Conditions are expected to improve later today as the snow begins to taper off by this evening.
Meanwhile, farther south, an active severe weather pattern continues from Georgia westward into Louisiana. Thunderstorms developing across this region may produce:
Damaging wind gusts
Heavy rainfall
Localized flooding problems
The combination of repeated storms and deep moisture will continue to create wet and unsettled conditions across much of the South.
Overall, this remains a multi-hazard weather pattern, with late-season snow in the Rockies and severe storms with flooding concerns across the southern United States.
