Daily Storm Report for March 30, 2026
Updated by Henry Margusity
Looking ahead, we’re transitioning into a generally warmer pattern, which will be a welcome change. However, the overall setup remains active and somewhat volatile.
We’ll continue to see storm systems tracking across the country, bringing:
Severe weather across parts of the central and eastern U.S. Snow across the northern Plains into southern Canada and the Northeast Widespread rain and thunderstorms across much of the eastern half of the country
While temperatures will trend milder overall, we’re not done with the cold just yet. Periodic cold shots will move in behind passing cold fronts, especially into next week.
That said, these cooler periods won’t last long — warm air will quickly return, leading to a back-and-forth pattern of warmups and cooldowns through much of April and possibly into early May.
This variability is being driven by a favorable large-scale pattern, including a:
Negative Arctic Oscillation (AO) Negative North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) Positive Pacific-North American Pattern (PNA)
Together, these signals support continued storminess and temperature swings, rather than a sustained stretch of stable weather.
